• パウエル系のピアニストだが、その愛弟子のハンプトンホーズと結びつける人も多い。パウエルと違って、もっと素直なピアノであり、だからウェスト・コーストでも違和感なく受け入れられたらしい。上記「'Round midnight」等の名盤を出した後暫くお休みで、十年くらい前から復活して活発に演奏活動をしている。
