| 名盤「Genius + Soul = Jazz」と、ジャズのヒット曲を集めた「My Kind of Jazz」とをカップルした、Ray Charlesのベスト盤で、オルガン弾き語りをたっぷり楽しめます。いつものRay Charlesのバック・バンドではなく、いわゆるスタジオ用のアレンジを用意した上でのビッグバンド・ヴォーカルですから、黒っぽさが薄まって、むしろジャズ本線の雰囲気が出ています。前者は名盤中の名盤で、「5 One Mint Julep」、「6 I'm Gonna Move to the Outskirts of Town」から、最後の「10 Birth of the Blues」まで、この人の独特の味が堪りません。 |
