この盤は、古今東西の名作ということで、モダンではありませんが、採っています。「絶版になったのはマズイ」と、その権利を評論家の河野隆次さん自身が獲得して、国内で自費出版されていた、いわゆる「赤箱」です。今は、徳間から出ています。「7 Ice Cream」は、高校時代に聴いていたラジオ番組の定番で、よく馴染んでいました。後にこの盤をゲットして、ドラムスが余興にやるヴォーカルが、「You scream. I scream. Everyone wants ice cream.」という地口になっていることを知りました。このボックスものでは、「High Society」、「The World Is Waiting for the Sunrise」(このバンジョーにはしびれます)等も、ジャズ番組でよく取り上げられていました。先頃、所蔵のジャズ資料を岡崎市に寄付された内田さんのあだ名である「Doctor Jazz｣なんて曲も入っています。「Bugle Boy Blues」等は､ジャズの起源の一つがマーチであることの証左でしょうか。(蛇足ながら、「Jass」は誤入力ではありませんので、抗議のメールはご容赦を(^^;)
